If you’re heading out on a date

POV: It’s Valentine’s Day and you’ve made the bold decision to say ‘yes’ to a date with the hottie at work. You want a makeup look that feels special to you but doesn’t look too ‘done’ to them. The answer? All pink everything.

Sticking right on brand with Valentine's Day, an all pink makeup look is the perfect combination of flirty and fun.

Starting with your eyes, sweep a matte pastel pink over the entire lid. Then, work a slightly darker shade on the outer edges and blend in circular motions to create a seamless gradient effect. Pack your brush with a glittery pink and pat it into the centre of the lid, before using an eyeliner brush to work some black shadow onto your upper lash line to create a soft winged liner. This will really make your eyes pop!

As for the cheeks and lips, opt for blue toned pinks in pastel shades for a romantic flush of colour. Finish off the look with a rosy highlighter on the top of your cheekbones and cupid's bow, and you’re good to go.

Our 10 Piece Essential Brush Set has everything you need to recreate this look.

If you’re staying in

Did you hear? Minimalist makeup is here to stay - and we’re not at all mad about it.

If you’re down for channelling a more subtle look for your chill night in, take note from the 90s (aka the era of effortless chic). Young Kate Moss is the epitome of this particular aesthetic.

To achieve the same effect, the main focus should be on your cheeks and lips. Use a sheer foundation or skin tint to create a fresh base for your skin, then brush your brows before gently filling in the gaps. Go for feathery and defined as opposed to bold and bushy. As for eyes? A slick of mascara is all you need (if any).

Next, apply your fave cream blush on the apples of your cheeks and work the excess onto your lips to provide a natural pop of colour for your lipgloss.

Less clean girl, and more cool girl. We’re in!

Our Angled Brow Brush is ideal for creating a minimal brow - no harsh lines necessary.

If you’re being taken somewhere special

So, you’ve got a killer ‘fit lined up for the night - and thanks to a lunch break spent studying the fancy dinner menu online - you already know you’re ordering the Pasta alla Vodka. Now all you need is some makeup inspo to match the occasion. That’s where we come in!

Getting ready for a special night with your other half is the perfect opportunity to whip out your favourite palettes and products. And what better way to do this than with a classic red lip and winged liner combo?

To unlock your inner icon, choose a shade of red that compliments your complexion. Cool-toned reds are a dream on fair skin tones, while a more ‘orange-y’ red is your best bet if you have dark/olive toned skin. Line the lips and apply your perfect colour for the ultimate confidence boost.

Of course, we can’t let the lips have all the fun. Work a shadow a couple of shades darker than your skin into the crease of the eye before adding plenty of mascara for that sexy cat eye effect. Finally, a touch of shimmery gold or silver in the inner corner of your eyes will elevate your eyes that little bit further.

With a look that hot, you better order the ice cream too.

If you’re celebrating Galentine’s with your besties

Hold up! You didn’t think we were going to leave without sharing some Galentine’s Day makeup ideas first, did you? Naturally, we’ve saved the best till last.

Enter: the IRL heart eyes emoji makeup you *need* to try with the girls this V-Day!😍

Playful, expressive, and oh-so cute, this look is predictable in the best way possible. Take note from pro MUA Katie Jane Hughes and make your eye palettes work harder by transforming the shadows into liquid eyeliner.

Simply wet your eyeliner brush then dip it into your colour of choice (reds and pinks work best for this), and draw heart shapes directly on and around your eyelids. There are really no rules here - the point is to let your creativity run wild.

Want to add a graphic liner? Go for it. Think a touch of glitter would take the look further? You know what to do. Don’t overthink it, just enjoy experimenting!

Treat yourself this Valentine’s Day with the Katie Jane Hughes 11 Piece Brush Set.

We can’t wait to see which looks you’ll be recreating this Valentine’s Day! Be sure to tag us on the ‘gram so we can share the beauty love: @SpectrumCollections
